Now that Accutane is no longer on the market, are there any alternative treatments for those with severe inflammatory acne?


Since its debut in 1982, Accutane had been considered the gold standard in acne treatment for people with severe inflammatory acne. But in June 2009, Roche Holding AG decided to stop distributing the drug.

Luckily there there are Accutane alternatives, so this treatment option is still available for severe acne sufferers.

Generic versions of Accutane have been available since 2002. These versions have the same active ingredient (isotretinoin) as the Accutane brand, so they work as well as the original.
